Each-way betting explained

What is an each-way golf bet?
An each-way bet is two bets: one on your golfer to win, and one on them to 'place' (finish inside the paid places — often the top 5 or top 8). You stake an equal amount on each part, so a $10 each-way bet costs $20. If your golfer wins, both parts pay; if they only place, the place part pays at a fraction of the win odds.
How are each-way place terms calculated?
The place part pays at a fraction of the full odds — commonly 1/4 or 1/5. So a golfer at +2000 (21.0 decimal) with 1/4 place terms returns place odds of 1 + (20 × 0.25) = 6.0 decimal (+500) on the place part if they finish inside the paid places.
How many places do golf each-way bets pay?
It varies by sportsbook and event. Standard tournaments often pay 5 places at 1/4 odds, while majors with huge fields can pay 8 or more. Always check the each-way terms on the bet slip — paying more places is a real edge, which is why we list each book's terms.
